Project Theta (RPG devlog) Chapter Ten: A Slight Change Of Course

Hello Fellow Humans!

  • Rambling

Project Management. It's hard. You have to decide what to do, where to place time and effort, and at the same time, you need to make sure everything gets done well. I'm just glad I don't have to worry about that stuff. Being a one man team means that I can just do whatever I think I need to and get it done. Need to add more work? So be it, though I try not to. However, I do miss having someone carrying me through I mean helping me make a game...I salute all you project managers who are able to organize a team while I'm over here organizing my tea collection. Oh what? I'm not slacking off...totally. See here's my update.

  • What Got Done?

I spent today balancing the characters and making them unique. Now they each have their own strengths and weaknesses that allow for different gameplay and require more thought when playing. I've also worked a bit on the rat and am happy with where I got. In general, I've spent the day making the game controls feel better. So yeah, not much to update on other than that you can check out each player on the discord in the minor work channel if you so desire.

  • A Schedule Change!

I've realized something...My art and music need work. They need some work. So what's that got to do with a schedule change? Well, since coding has gone mostly painlessly, I will be working on art and music for the next 3 - 4 weeks *groaning noises*. See, I'm not super worried about how the code and design will work out. I'm terrified of my art and music though. The issue is that none of it really meshes together. The art scales are off, the music sounds like it's from different games, and the general theme feels all over the place, rather than one condensed idea. My initial idea of another world has been morphed into a crazy bunch of ideas that don't mesh. I want to polish my theme and make every asset feel like it belongs. The result, spend more time making my game fit that theme. So there will be more art showcasing and fewer dev streams so it evens out. Might do art streams if I get desperate haha.
