Project Theta (RPG devlog) Chapter Eight: Backtracking
Hello fellow humans,
- Rambling (Update Below This Section)
Well now that I'm alive again here goes another rambling section. So what subject am I going to forever ruin for you by giving painful jokes? Laziness. Yes, laziness, you see, I have recently become aware of a fact. I am lazy when it comes to art. I want to finish it and move on to the fun coding parts. I want to make a quick soundtrack for my game and get on with my life. But unfortunately, laziness bit me back recently. Yeah sorry Bill Gates but giving me the hard task of doing art didn't exactly get me an efficient solution, only another two days of pixel art that I expected but thought I might bypass. So yes, as some of you may have seen, my artwork for the players only had left and right animations. I thought this would be fine and that I could be cheap about it. Instead I've spent two days making up and down animations for all the players. Read more below for the non rage and more legible version of this. This section was more of a rant than rambling with dry humor, but oh well, my devlog, my rants, my laziness, my artistic self...wait take out that last one.
- What The Heck Happened?
Well. I messed up. I really messed up. As some of you may have noticed, my player animations only had attack left, attack right, move left, and move right animations. I thought this was fine and that you could use the move left and move right animations for going up and down. I failed to think about how people were going to attack up or attack down, so I spent the last two days fixing that mistake. Since I had to make these from scratch I did not do them as quickly and it took me two days. That's about all I could do.
- So Now What?
Well now, I have to announce that I'm going to have to delay the beta and final release of my game. This isn't because of the art but because I won't have the ability to export the game at all until August 31 or so. Don't worry, with this forced delay I will actually be able to slightly increase scope so I hope that's compensation. The revised schedule is below
- Schedule
July 17 - 31 Music + SFX work
August 14 Initial Scope Completed
August 14-26 Add All The Cool Stuff That I Want Because I Can
August 26-31 Transfer Everything to a Computer That Can Actually Export the Game
August 31 Beta Release!
September 1 - 9 Bug fixing, Polishing, Any Stuff I forgot
September 10 Release Game!
I'm feel forced to delay but not because of being overworked which feels weird but I guess it works out in that I can increase scope.
